Funny thing was that the "computer" tagged the patient for the "random" urinalysis for four months running in the last four months of 2016, whereas they had asked for the urinalysis about three times a year the three years prior to that. I'd say the probability that the "random" urinalysis would somehow be required every month going forward is very high.
I have been in pain for the last several days, cant drive 30 miles, cancelled appt from a text i recieved on sunday, got a call monday from office telling me i had a 2:30 appt. Explained what happened. Reset for the next day. Cpuldn't drive bacause of back, woman at desk said i would go down as a no show? Called back to get better understanding. Didnt matter that i couldnt sit in car & drive, so i told her to take me off as a patient. She said that would be fine. They are not the only pain relief company's out there
At the end of 2016, we were unable to find a plan that covered Dr. Mehta. A little further research showed that none of the PainMD doctors were covered by any plan that we could find.
Needless to say, I am no longer doing business with PainMD.
When we visited Dr. Mehta in December, the office staff gave us a pamphlet. It said that could pay $195 per visit (usually with a NP), and that if the patient were required to have a "random" urinalysis, that would be another $145.
Dr. Hemal Mehta is an outstanding doctor. He gets five stars from me. However, PainMD is not a company that I would recommend. It isn't a surprise to me that they are no longer in the S Network, the largest insurance network for providers. Either they were not approved by the network or they decided that they didn't want to deal with them, but the upshot is that as of 2017 they are attempting to convert to a cash business.
